First Day of Work...

Hi there...Update on first day of work.. Well I went in and got my kit and came home to make a few calls. And then went back to office because I couldnt get a hold of my mom or his. So then I was supppose to go door to door and I said no way,. But I took the kit and drove around till three and came home and called the boss and told him this job wasnt for me. They were suppose to set up appts for you instead of you going door to door.

I was rather pissed off yesterday when i found that out because it wasnt in the job description..but when i told the boss door to door wasnt for me he asked if he set up my appts if i would stay. i thought to myself isnt that what i was told in the first place... people...

Well i am going back in today hoping he has enough appts for me. i missed the one appt we had yesterday because i came home but i wasnt going to go knocking on door before or after that... No way... They have people in there call center to make appoints and they dont have enough people to make more than two appoints in the day when you have six or seven people working.. I am giving the job till Friday. If they have me doing pre made appts I will stick with it for a while. If not I will just find something else. Fast food or something.... Even though I hate fast food.

Well I need to go shower an get dressed. I will try and make rounds here in a few minutes...

Update.I quit this morning Tuesday May 6th.they promised appts and couldnt make them so I told them to go screw thems selves in not so many words. I am not putting up with it.

Good for you for sticking to your boundaries and your ethics. If an employer lies to you once, and you catch it, you are way ahead in the game. I hope things get better, but stick up for yourself and your principles and if you see any more red flags, you know you can find something else if need be!

I'm glad you refused to do door-to-door, Tweety. It is a waste of your time and especially the money you use for gas, unless they reimburse you for the gas, which I doubt they will do. It's also dangerous to go door-to-door, especially these days. You don't know what drugged up idiot you could run into, and there are even idiots out there who don't do drugs, so you are wise to stick to your guns!

I have to admit I have no patience with door-to-door salespeople unless I have set up an appointment with them. I wouldn't be rude, but I am firm. If I want something I go looking for it, it doesn't find me.

Good luck!

cold call sales are the pits.

That is terrible of them to pull that crap. Hope today goes better.

I was afraid of that. Any company, like Kirby, that sells door-to-door, isn't worth the time you invest in it. :(

Hi Tweetey. I'm sorry your job didn't work out. Where are you going to apply to next?

Tweety, the fact that they would even consider sending a woman to go door-to-door in this day and age with all the nutjobs that are out there tells you everything you need to know about them.

Besides, with the internet people don't appreciate door-to-door salespeople. Most people can get on the internet and order what they want without even leaving their home. It would be a complete waste of your time even if it was safe. I'm glad you had the good sense to quit!

Did you delete a post? (I had one on my feed that didn't show up on the site).

Sounds like a very shady organization - see if you can get your employer to give you the job offer in writing with your pay and responsibilities. Bow out if they call you an agent because they don't have anywhere near the responsibilities to you if you aren't an employee.

Frankly, door to door has got to have gone the way of the dinosaur - who's even at home these days?

Door-to-door sucks. I have no idea how anyone could do that. It seems to 1960s too.

WC thanks..

Gayle Yes it was. It wasnt in the job description of door to door.

Hammer more than you know. They told me one thing and did another.

Mom you are correct there.

Jeannie yes they are.

Ortho not much I can do but have applied with several temp agencies and one store i used to work at when Kora was a baby.

Tell me about it Gayle. Its stupid of them but they get away with it.

Jeannie I didnt delete. it just never showed up. i thought I lost it.

ZF you are so right when you put it those words.

In this day and age, door to door is dangerous for a woman, and going into strangers' houses alone.

I had an employer hire me once for a specific job (a Christian supposedly) then three days later after I quit my other job, he moved me into something I didn't want to do. Then I found out he was not paying my taxes like employers do and didn't tell me before hired that was what he was doing. Lots of devious crooks out there to watch out for, huh?

Gardenia exactly what Kirby did to me... Well I have a few more interviews in the next few days.
