Its jjust because...

Hi all. You all know that the Holiday Season is upon us and I havent started shopping yet...I have no idea what to get Brianna. I have idea's for Kora but not Bri this year.. It should be the other way around but its not..

I am so looking forward to going home for a few days next week. Bri's working on K's today.. Kora is working on writing letters and sentences in her book. But she prefers to read... She will sit and read for hours at a time.

They both want me to teach them to crochet but I dont know where to start with that maybe I will just have my MIL teach them.. We are stopping to see my dad and his mother on our way home to Green Bay when we leave Minnesota next week. The girls get like 3 or so different X-mas's.. LOL... That is what we get for having such a huge family between the two of us.

Then on the 24th we get to make a trip back to Minneapolis MN to get Ruth from the airport from Uganda. Then she is going to be here for a month or so. She is sending me some calanders to sell. I might post one and if you all are interested just let me know. I will have them in my possession before she gets here so maybe I can have some money here waiting for her when she gets here. She has 16 dollars already..

Thanks for being patient with me my friends.. Oh I have one thing to say and I dont remember posting this. You all remember me saying I wasnt sure of the headsets when I first started working right?? Well guess what?? I have been taking orders and doing well with them.. I was taking orders Wednesday night and doing quite well. I didnt make one mistake. Well maybe one but we fixed it before the car drove away. No calls saying that we made a mistake... yayyyy......

Its cold here and Jeff and I have been making a date 3 nights a week to play raquetball when we have time. The other night was our first hi/bye session. He was just walking in the door as I was walking out.. That was the hardest day of my life since working I think. We are planning on playing raquetball tonight and tomorrow. I just hope he gets home in time to go at 7 PM tonight.. Other wise we have it set up for 2 PM tomorrow since they close at 4 PM down town tomorrow. We have four sites here in the Green Bay Area..

Kora is having a hard time with her math lately. she knows what like 2+4=6 but taking 6-4=2 is confusing her.. Any suggestions. I have to work with her on some papers I got from a blog friend.. I need to find the envolope I have the papers in.. Well I suppose. Kora needs to take her spelling test here in a few minutes and I have to get dressed and find a clean uniform for tonight for myself. Then hopefully my dear hubby will be home in time to go play raquetball..LOL... Talk to you all soon. Have a wonderful weekend I dont get back here till Monday..

I remember when I learned math in school, we had these special blocks in different colours and sizes representing each number so we could visualize what was happening. I know I've seen them in an educational store recently so they still make them. I couldn't see the type I mean online. These were very simple and I think they helped me a lot. I still remember the colour of each number!

I was thinking that maybe you could use dried beans for counting. Or some small things. Show her six and then take away four. Maybe she's visual and that would help.

Have fun on your travels.

You are one busy lady and you sound so happy it does my heart good. No suggestions about math, I still hate it.

So glad you conquered your fear of the headset!! It's a good feeling, isn't it?

With my girls, I had them work extensively with the fact families. It wasn't something that came quickly to either girl. We had to work on it. They seemed to like doing it as a ladder, sort of. If you do the equation - not straight across, but up and down - then I would have them go down the ladder with the equation starting at the top 6-4=2 (but up and down - not across) and then do the opposite back up the ladder - 2+4=6 starting at the bottom and climbing back up. We would then do 6-2=4 and then back up doing opposite of subtraction which is addition: 4+2=6. They seemed to like going up and down and pretending they were climbing a ladder.. You just never know what's going to click with a kid. We also used counters - in our case little blue cubes - on a place value mat.

I like the idea of the colored blocks of different shapes and sizes - wish I had them when I was going through this.

Glad your are going on a nice trip for the holidays.

I have noticed that all of the homeschooled kids I know read like maniacs, including my own. They just love to read.

Start teaching them with a simple chain stitch. Use the largest yarn and crochete hook you can find. Once they learn how to make a chain stich, you can teach them the single stitch and go from there. I was able to learn it at four and I'm sure they can too! :)

Merry Christmas!
